From: PCTT Communications Unit.
Dated: 25th April, 2025

The Presbyterian Church of Trinidad and Tobago, extends heartfelt condolences to the Archdiocese of Port of Spain, and our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters both locally and globally on the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis.

We join you in mourning the loss of a remarkable servant leader whose papacy was defined by profound humility, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to justice, peace, and the dignity of all people. His Holiness championed the cause ofthe poor, called for responsible stewardship of God’s creation, and consistently exemplified love and mercy in word and deed. His influence extended far beyond the Roman Catholic Church, resonating deeply with people across Christiandenominations and faith traditions around the world.

As we continue our journey through the Easter season—celebrating the victory of Christ over death and the enduring promise of resurrection—we give thanks for the life, ministry, and witness of Pope Francis. His faithfulness and spiritual leadership were a gift to the Universal Catholic Church and a beacon of hope for many.

In this time of sorrow, the Presbyterian Church of Trinidad and Tobago stands in prayerful solidarity with the Roman Catholic community. We are grateful for the ecumenical spirit we share, and we pray that God’s comfort and peace may rest upon you and all who mourn. May the legacy of Pope Francis continue to inspire lives of humble service and faithful discipleship in the name of Christ.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4
