SUMMARY:
Accountable for all of the day-to-day planning and directing the functions of financial accounting, treasury, internal controls and payroll functions of PCTT and management accounting. The position ensures the accurate and timely accounting treatment of operating activities and the preparation of financial statements and operating reports. This requires full compliance with all applicable International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) and generally acceptable accounting practices. This is supported by the development and maintenance or records, policies and procedures to adequately safeguard the assets of the Church. The incumbent also provides professional and technical assistance to the Synod in the areas of taxation, insurances and financial planning.

EXAMPLE OF WORK:
- Supervises all day-to-day activities of the Financial Accounting function which includes the requirement to plan, organize and coordinate all activities of this function to ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of all financial results for the organization;
- Takes a lead role in managing the treasury function of PCTT including the management of all cash flows, cash investments, bank accounts and relationships with bankers;
- Takes a lead role in taxation management as it relates to the compliance with all stated taxation legislation to which PCTT is obligated to comply with;
- Takes a lead role in managing PCTT’s Insurance program;
- Manages the internal controls that support the supplier payment process which includes approval of invoices, purchase orders, requisitions, cheque request vouchers with approved authorization limits;
- Develops, analyses, and interprets accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
- Co-ordinates the visits of external auditors (Statutory and Board of Inland Revenue) and assures statutory and regulatory compliance with existing provisions.
- Develops and/or enhances, implements and enforces policies and procedures by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization and to adequately safeguard the assets of the PCTT
- Management of the payroll processing processes.
- Manages the day-to-day cash flows between the various accounts in order to meet operating expenditures and maximize the return on conversions and investments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified accountant with a minimum of three (3) years accounting and/or auditing experience at a Middle Management or senior accounting level, with at least 1-year supervisory experience, as evident by ACCA, or a degree in Accounting from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
OTHER SKILLS:
- Experience in planning and overseeing the conduct of an audit
- Experience in dealing with the Board of Inland Revenue, National Insurance Board etc.
- Experience in dual/multi-currency financial reporting
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Accounting packages such as Peachtree.
